ameaça

substantivo

partial

assault

noun

Comparative law notes

Brazil

"Assault" is broader in meaning than "ameaça". "Ameaça", as provided for in section 147 of the Brazilian Penal Code, means threatening someone with serious harm through spoken or written words, gestures or other means. "Ameaça" is a crime, not a tort. Translator tip: "Assault" and "assalto" are false cognates!
