This English term should be used when personal property (chattel) is combined (see sec. 947 of the German Civil Code). If the context clearly shows that strictly movable property is involved - i.e., personal property/chattel - then you may wish to translate the term as "chattel amalgamation"; a little strange-sounding, but such phrasing should alert the reader to this unique German concept and its ramifications, particularly the possible creation of co-ownership rights (sec. 947 of the Civil Code).
