The word "tergiversação" has two meanings in Brazilian Portuguese: 1. a general meaning, referring to the action or process of not giving a clear and direct answer to a question; 2. a strictly legal meaning, referring to a lawyer's conduct of representing both the defendant and the plaintiff in the same or related lawsuits, which is an offense. When translating "tergiversação" in the first sense, use "prevarication"; when translating "tergiversação" in the second sense, explain the offense in English.
