Comparative law notes
Although this common law concept shares the same fundamental purpose with the Absorptionsprinzip - namely, protecting offenders from being punished twice for a single continuous criminal act - the common law concept addresses multiple prosecutions for the same offence, while the Austrian concept focuses on technically precluding multiple charges in a single prosecution. Therefore, this translation should only be used with caution.
