Definitions of offence against the state
an illegal attack on the lawful government of a country eg treason. The term is sometimes used in a looser sense to refer to some, most, or all crimes (ie breaking the law).
The charge of inducing a person to commit an offence against the state was widely used to crush dissent under the former military regime.
