Definitions of assured tenancy
(UK LAW) a type of residential tenancy in English land law that gives the tenant more rights than the more usual assured shorthand tenancy. They offer some security in that as long as the assured tenant does not break the terms of the tenancy agreement then he or she can continue to live in the property (unless the tenancy is an assured tenancy for a fixed term).
The regulations now allow fully mutual housing co-operatives to grant assured tenancies.
