Definitions of mechanical reproduction right
(often used in the plural: mechanical reproduction rights) the right to copy a piece of music onto a computer or a CD, DVD, record, tape, or other media. These rights also include the right to take photocopies of sheet music, and are usually granted by a creator of music to a company selling the music so that the company can make authorized copies.
A mechanical reproduction right allows creators to claim royalties when their works are recorded.
