Comparative law notes
According to the Hungarian Labour Code, an employer may terminate the employment relationship immediately where the employee: 1. commits a grave violation of a material obligation arising from the employment relationship 2. or otherwise behaves in a way which would make his employment relationship impossible to maintain. The right must be exercised within 15 days of becoming aware of the grounds for summary dismissal. This right cannot be exercised more than one year after the occurrence of the grounds for dismissal. In the event of a criminal offence, termination can be effected up to the limitation periods applicable to the criminal prosecution.
