accidental injury

harm caused to a person, property, or assets because of something that was not expected, especially some violent act or occurrence from some external force (eg a road accident, storm, or some other event that was beyond the control of the person or owner of the property that suffers the harm). The term is most commonly used in relation to injuries to people.
