Although we would classify Testierfreiheit and testamentary freedom as near equivalent concepts, German law imposes more restrictions on these freedoms than does traditional common law, as German inheritance laws recognizes the concept of the Pflichtteil (the statutory, indefeasible compulsory share of an estate).
