Other standard but rather non-descriptive translations of this German term are "works agreement" (which is too close to "works contract", the standard translation for Werkvertrag, something totally different), "works council agreement" (which fails to articulate the employer-side of the arrangement" and "company agreement" (which has no descriptive value whatsoever). We recommend using our rather lengthy neologism the first time this term is encountered in a text, and then dropping a parenthetical after this first translation to defined a more succinct phrase (if the term reappears again frequently in the text). In that case, "works council agreement" would be the preferred, truncated phrase.
