neolog

initial suspicion for triggering a criminal investigation

Comparative law notes

Germany

This criteria of suspicion is different than "reasonable suspicion" as that phrase is used in the Anglo-American context as the basis letting the police to stop a suspect. Under the German system, this form of suspicion applies once the available evidence suggests that in the professional view of the criminal investigators, the suspect's involvement could result in an indictable offense.
