This English phrase aptly describes the essence of this German legal concept when accepting a work (customized work product) under sec 640 BGB : a buyer or transferee of the subject matter, which is being transferred, in this case "formally" inspects and approves the subject matter, which in turn triggers a number of legal consequences as described above.
