China

Registry of Deeds (地契登记处) is the name used in the United States. In China, the system is a more localised one. On 1 March 2015, China's "Provisional Rules on Real Estate Registration" (《不动产登记暂行条例》) promulgated by the State Council on 24 November 2014 came into force, creating a unified national registration system for various types of real estate, and replacing the old diverse system. With effect from 1 March 2015, under the direction of the Ministry of Land and Resources (国土资源部), local governments at county level or above has started setting up local authorities to be responsible for land registration, known as a local Real Estate Registration Bureau (不动产登记局). The new system is a unified registration system consolidated at the national level. In Hong Kong, it is known as Land Registry (土地註冊處).
