This translation is not perfect since this type of evidence may be the result of any kind of "sensory" perception: seeing, hearing, touching, smelling or tasting. Thus, an alternative and more accurate translation might be "sensory evidence", but observational evidence seems to be the most commonly used translation of this concept.
