Comparative law notes

Brazil

"Vício redibitório" is a hidden defect that renders the goods improper for the use they were made for, or that reduces their value (sec. 441 et seq. of the Brazilian Civil Code)". As opposed to a latent defect, a "vício redibitório" is a defect that the seller or service provider does not necessarily know about in advance.

Definitions of latent defect

If you are selling a house, and know of a latent defect, you should seek legal advice to avoid liability down the road.
