Comparative law notes
The divisions of a Brazilian law are: "parte" (part), "livro" (book), "título" (title), "capítulo" (chapter), "artigo" (article or section), "inciso" (item), "alínea" (subitem) and "parágrafo" (paragraph). Because the designations given to the subdivisions of laws vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction (e.g., an "artigo" of the Brazilian Civil Code would correspond to a "section" of the U.S. Code), the translation should be adapted accordingly.
