Comparative law notes
The term "codicilo" in Portuguese (sections 1,881 to 1,885 of the Brazilian Civil Code) is not equivalent to "codicil" in English. "Codicilo" is a written document, dated and signed, stating how a person wants their funeral to be and what should be done with their assets of low value (e.g., clothing, furniture) after they die.
